Doris Osobase John
Founder of Zion Medical & Empowerment Trail (ZMET)
Doris Osobase John is a passionate healthcare professional, a dedicated community advocate, and the founder of Zion Medical & Empowerment Trail (ZMET). With roots in West Africa, Nigeria, Doris’s journey has been shaped by both personal experiences and a deep commitment to improving health and education in underserved communities, both in the United States and globally.
Before pursuing a career in healthcare, Doris served as a flight crew member. However, after relocating to the United States, she felt a deep calling to return to school and further her education in nursing. Her journey was profoundly influenced by the loss of a beloved family member to HIV in Nigeria—a loss exacerbated by a lack of knowledge, access to proper medical care, and the stigmatization of those affected by the disease. This heartbreaking experience motivated Doris to embark on a mission to bring medical education, aid, and awareness to her community.
With a strong foundation in business administration, having earned a bachelor’s degree in the field, Doris is currently working toward her master’s in health management. Her expertise spans both the clinical and administrative sectors, and she currently works as a nurse and administrator in the pharmaceutical industry, where she is involved in the collection and processing of human plasma critical life-saving resource. Through her daily work, Doris is exposed to the realities of those affected by various health challenges, including the inability to donate plasma due to testing positive for certain diseases, such as HIV. This has further fueled her determination to educate people on the availability of treatment options, the importance of testing, and the need for proactive health management.
Doris has collaborated with various organizations and churches to distribute food, educate individuals about safe sex practices, promote the use of protective measures, and emphasize the importance of seeking help when in doubt. Through Zion Medical & Empowerment Trail (ZMET), Doris is on a mission to bridge gaps in healthcare access, particularly for marginalized communities. Her work extends to both the United States and sub-Saharan Africa, where she provides street-level education and empowers individuals to make informed health decisions.
As a dedicated community leader, Doris continues to inspire change by breaking down barriers of fear and misinformation surrounding healthcare. Her efforts focus on raising awareness about available medical treatments, testing centers, and support networks, while challenging the stigma that often surrounds individuals living with chronic diseases. Doris believes that no one should feel isolated or without options when it comes to their health, and through ZMET, she is working to ensure that people have the knowledge and resources they need to take control of their well-being.
With a passion for empowering individuals and communities to lead healthier, more informed lives, Doris Osobase John’s commitment to making a difference is evident in every aspect of her work and the lives she touches.
